Is your scarf collection in need of an update? Do you find yourself pairing your black or gray scarf with everything, simply because it’s the only one you have and it just, goes with everything? Well, it’s time to mix it up with some fun patterns and prints from your favorite retailers. Scarves keep you warm, add interest to an outfit, and our opinion, even exude an aura of sophistication when paired with the right outerwear. They can lift your spirits by making you feel all snuggly, making cold or dreary days not-so-bad after all. Also, you can wear scarves in multiple ways, which means you get a lot of bang for your buck!
Having a wide wardrobe of scarves is great because you can match them with what your wearing or with your mood. And sometimes an outfit just isn’t complete until you’ve added the right scarf. But, if you don’t have the right one…. you feel like your look is missing out on a whole lot of wonder.
Well, the good news is here! We've compiled a selection of scarves that will surely spruce up any jacket and jeans combo. Or sweater and skirt combo? Or just a nice belted sweater dress with tall boots? With scarves, the possibilities for pairings are endless! They're simply a great investment piece to have around.
What does the fox say? Believe it or not, that’s the song that came to mind when I saw this scarf on ModCloth. If you ever haven’t heard of ModCloth, it’s an online retailer who carries a variety of apparel and accessories with a vintage, quirky, sophisticated vibe. It’s a delicate combo to pull off, but they do it beautifully. This "Outfox the Eye Scarf" was one of many they had with interesting, eye-catching prints. It seems the “What Does The Fox Say” song influence is even spreading into the fashion industry, as they also had a gray fox-face printed scarf that has already sold out. Yep. The influence of pop-culture these days never ceases to amaze me.
Are you more of a basic gal? Maybe this neutral ivory-tinted knit scarf from Target would suit you. Be a little bit more daring and go for this solid pumpkin-pie shaded scarf from UOI Online. Fringe detailing gives this scarf more texture and even some movement, which will kick any basic look up a notch.
Plaid flannel can look a bit outdated and lumberjack-ish, but if paired with some edgy pieces, this print is the perfect grunge-go to! Add a matching red lip, studded jewels, and a black beanie and suddenly this red/black Forever 21 scarf makes you too cool for school. Houndstooth is a popular trend this fall, with runways featuring in on a micro-scale and blowing it up super large. Target has taken their own spin on the trend by creating scarves with houndstooth print in an assorted mixture of colors that still compliment each other. Merona brand always has great high-quality scarves, and this purple and pink houndstooth one is no exception! Lastly, no one can ever go wrong with a standard plaid scarf. Here’s one from Gap that has a bright blue and coral printed plaid. I can imagine this paired with an oversize white knit sweater, black skinny jeans and black leather boots. Add flashy gold accessories to complete a look that is effortlessly comfortable but still put-together, just what you need for a day of running around on campus.
